The main research theme of the respiratory virus (VR) group is the study of the viral etiology of acute respiratory infections and rash fevers in Senegal. Research activities are strongly linked to the activities of the CNRs it hosts and are grouped into 4 main areas: (1) Molecular epidemiology, (2) VR impact in terms of seasonality, morbidity, hospitalizations, associated mortality, etc. (3) Study of the effectiveness of influenza vaccines. (4) Ecology of influenza viruses of avian origin (A / H5, A / H7 or A / H9) and the risk of their transmission / adaptation to humans.
