The Institut Pasteur of Dakar Foundation (IPD) is a non-profit association of public utility, concerned with promoting public health and well-being in West Africa. Since its founding in 1896 by one of Louis PASTEUR's disciples, Émile Marchoux, the IPD has been at the forefront of the fight against infectious diseases. Since 2009, the Institut Pasteur de Dakar has been a Senegalese foundation, jointly managed by the government of Senegal and the Institut Pasteur (Paris).
